Sell Your Watch via Consignment
Our consignment service is designed for clients who wish to maximise the return on their watch without the administrative, legal, and practical burdens of selling privately. Whilst a direct purchase by us offers speed and certainty, consignment will typically achieve a higher net return, subject to market conditions and sale timeframe. By consigning your watch with us, you appoint us to act as your sales agent on the terms set out below.
Under a consignment arrangement, legal title to the watch remains with you until the watch is sold to a third-party buyer. We do not purchase the watch from you unless and until a sale is completed. By entering into a consignment agreement, you authorise us to market, display, advertise, and sell the watch on your behalf in accordance with these terms.
Valuation and Acceptance
Any valuation or estimate provided prior to receipt of the watch is indicative only and given on a subject-to-contract basis. All consignments are conditional upon physical inspection, authentication, and condition assessment. We reserve the right to decline a consignment or revise any indicative valuation following inspection, without liability.
Upon receipt, your watch will be inspected by our workshop team and subject to due diligence checks, including searches through The Watch Register or equivalent databases. If a watch is identified as lost, stolen, or otherwise subject to an adverse claim, we are legally obliged to secure the watch and notify the appropriate authorities. In such circumstances, the watch will not be listed and no payment will be due.
Reserve Price and Listing
Prior to listing, we will agree with you a reserve price, being the minimum gross sale price at which the watch may be sold. We will not sell the watch below the agreed reserve price without your prior written consent.
We will present the watch professionally, including cleaning, photography, and marketing through our website and associated sales channels. You acknowledge that listing prices, presentation, and marketing strategy are matters of professional judgment and may be adjusted by us over time to reflect market conditions, subject always to the agreed reserve price.
All descriptions, condition reports, and images are prepared in good faith but remain expressions of opinion, not statements of fact. The watch will be offered for sale in its condition at the time of listing.
Storage, Insurance, and Care
Whilst in our possession, your watch will be stored in a secure facility and insured under our commercial insurance policy against loss or damage, subject to the policy’s terms and limits. Our liability in the event of loss or damage is limited to the lower of the agreed reserve price or the most recent valuation provided by us, less any agreed costs, and is subject to settlement by our insurers.
We will take reasonable care of the watch but shall not be responsible for deterioration arising from inherent qualities of the watch, age-related fragility, or normal environmental factors.
Sale, Returns, and Payment
Where a sale is completed, the buyer will benefit from statutory consumer rights, including a fourteen-day right to cancel. You acknowledge and accept that a sale is not considered final until the consumer return period has expired. We will manage all buyer communications, returns, and potential disputes arising during this period.
Once the return period has elapsed and funds have cleared, we will remit payment to you by bank transfer, less our agreed commission and any applicable costs. Payment will ordinarily be made within seven working days of completion of the sale. All payments will be made in Pounds Sterling, and you are responsible for any exchange rate losses if you are based outside the United Kingdom.
Commission and Costs
Our commission rate will be agreed with you prior to listing and will be deducted from the gross sale price. You acknowledge that our commission reflects the costs and risks associated with marketing, storage, insurance, handling returns, fraud prevention, and administration.
We reserve the right to deduct from sale proceeds any agreed costs incurred in relation to your watch, including but not limited to servicing, authentication, or restoration carried out with your consent.
Legals
By consigning a watch with us, you warrant and undertake that you are the legal owner of the watch, that it is free from any lien, charge, finance agreement, or third-party claim, and that it has not been reported as lost or stolen. You further warrant that all information provided by you regarding the watch is true, accurate, and complete, and that no material facts affecting its value, authenticity, provenance, or condition have been withheld.
You accept full responsibility for any breach of these undertakings. In the event of a breach, we reserve the right to withdraw the watch from sale, terminate the consignment, recover any losses incurred, and exercise any other rights available to us at law.
Termination of Consignment
You may request withdrawal of your watch from consignment at any time prior to sale, subject to reasonable notice and reimbursement of any agreed or incurred costs, including marketing, servicing, or return shipping. We reserve the right to terminate a consignment arrangement where we reasonably consider that the watch is unsaleable, misdescribed, or where continued listing exposes us to legal or reputational risk.
Risk and Limitation of Liability
Our total liability to you in connection with a consignment arrangement shall not exceed the agreed reserve price of the watch, save where liability cannot lawfully be excluded. We shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or market fluctuations affecting sale value or timing.
